Handling Checks & Cash Donations
Donations by Check:
- All checks should be made out to “American Diabetes Association”
- Checks can be turned in early by mailing them to the American Diabetes Association’s Raleigh office. Donors may prefer that riders forward checks prior to the event to allow checks to be processed and clear their accounts in a timely manner. Checks may also be held until the Early Check-In (Friday, June 27, 2008) or the day of event Check-In (Saturday, June 28, 2008).
- When mailing checks, be sure to include the Rider’s name so the amount of the checks will count toward that rider’s total. You can also download and print a Deposit Form to include with the checks. Mail checks to the address below.
Mailing Address:

Cash Donations:
- Riders can turn in cash donations early by writing a check for the amount of the cash donations and mailing the check to the American Diabetes Association’s Raleigh office. (It is not recommended to send cash through the mail.)
- Cash donations may also be held until the Early Check-In (Friday, June 27, 2008) or the day of event Check-In (Saturday, June 28, 2008).
- When mailing a check in place of cash donations, be sure to include the Rider’s name so the amount will count toward that rider’s total. You can also download and print a Deposit Form to include with the checks. Mail the check to the mailing address listed above.
Noting Offline Donations on your personal ADA web page:
To have check and cash donations reflected on your personal ADA web page, enter the cash/check donations as offline donations. Offline donations will be reflected in the online progress thermometer that appears on the rider’s personal web page.
The amount of check and cash donations entered on your ADA personal web page should be no more than the combined total of all checks and cash donations. Offline donations only show up on the online personal web pages and team web pages and are not automatically counted towards the rider’s official “turned in” amount. Only checks and cash turned in early or at the event Check-In sessions are counted in the rider’s total amount.
For example, if you turn-in $50 in cash and $200 in checks, you should enter a total of no more than $250 in offline donations. The offline donations can be entered separately if you want to include the donor’s name and amount on the scrolling list of donations on the ADA personal web page. If you inadvertently entered a total of $350 in offline donations, the $350 amount will not be used to calculate the rider’s total amount of donations. The actual $250 that was turned in will be added to any donations made online to calculate the rider’s total amount of donations.
